Is The IMF Satan?

The IMF acts like any supreme court. Who pays the piper calls the tune. Who selects the membership, broadly selects the operational decisions.

With the US still the major partner in the IMF, it influences its decisions. The make-up of the visiting country inspectorate decides the specific country conditionalities. The IMF acts as the "lender of last resort". You borrow then you must pay back. The mechanisms for repayment include the conditionalities imposed. They too, depend in part, on your government's relationship with the make-up of the US Foreign Relations Committee and not even the sitting president. What is so hard about that there, to understand?

I think the PM of Antigua was way off base with his comments. The previous administration borrowed the funds he now has to pay back. Sorry for you...Has nothing to do with the IMF... Pure crap...You owe Venezuela enough already they can not even buy toilet paper there its Antigua they going bail out.. Trust me sooner than later you will eat your words.

Saint Lucians are so-o-o-o-o-o dumb. Kenny just borrowed another $20 million. No one has question the repayment schedule and other terms. This Finance Minister from Hell is at it again. No one questions the logic of telling us that we are way past the threshold limit for debt, but we have just been told that we have recently got into a $750 million with the CDB and $20 million from China.

It this a joke?

The IMF has to take some chastisement for some of its policies, but I contend that the corrupt and nasty Caribbean politicians are 99.999% TO BLAME for wasting/crooking the treasury funds.

For example, right here in St. Lucia.

Amen to all of that @5:559 PM. And jackass Saint Lucian people turn around and worship those crooks as gods, especially those with a lighter skin tone. The Pope should ex-communicate them for idolatry.

One Policy of the International Monetary Fund which I abhor, is the so-called graduation of low-income countries to the middle-income category, and those moving them off concessionary loans.

The MDCs are only technically so for the purposes of the IMF but in reality there are still many who live in the poverty lines in these so-called MDCs.

But I agree those it is the crooked and corrupt ways and practices of politicians that take the countries over the fiscal cliff; and the vagabonds cry out wolf, wolf.

The political vagabonds are the ones who squander the treasury funds; hooking and crooking; and when their arses are laid bare for all to see; and exposed to the world; they run to the IMF for help (note: the IMF never goes to a country if it is not invited);

and those same bastards; then turn around with crocodile tears to the electorate; pretending that the IMF is doing the country wrong; hiding the fact that they frustrate the Office of the Auditor General; monies go to waste; commissions of inquiry upon commissions of inquiry; to no avail; and have the bloody nerve to cry to the electorate about the blinking IMF.

These fellars need to be sent to the Prisons at Bordelais.

Great synthesis of ideas on the whole matter, at 4:17 PM. Could not have said any better.

Saint Lucia has a standing reputation for voting into power well-known crooks, scumbags, slime-balls, and maggots, with representation from each and every minority and majority the ethnic group on the island -- and with no exception!

What a dirty, rotten, stinking place this has become, and one is forced to have to call that home.

If anyone blames the IMF, you should be immediately suspicious of their motives. More often than not, they are trying to deflect attention from their own pitiful and mendacious activities.

You borrow the money, you pay it back. It's a time-old concept which is still lost on many a Caribbean bone-head. IT IS NOT FOR FREE

John Peters' uses lots of words to advocate for the IMF policy for neo-colonization of the world via bankruptcy!

August 26 at 11.14PM the fact is; we have a whole lot of men and some women; who were brought up in poverty; and did not know what real family life and living in a home is all about. They never really had that experience.

Happily though; they received some higher-level education; but instead of using it to make others in their country move higher and live a better life; they act like the former colonizers and in most cases; worst than the former colonizers.

They have neither dignity nor honour; they still have the mud between their toes; and instead of taking the opportunity to groom themselves with some honour and dignity and act more like a human being; they become more and more like wild animals.
Even trained dogs, behave better than them.

But for the misery they have brought about on hundreds of innocent St. Lucians; pushing them further in a worst standard of living; they will certainly suffer the consequences; for as the saying goes 'you reap what you sow".

.....out of adversity comes opportunity!..the PEOPLE have the power to change the current situation in St.Lucia: no matter of what political stripe they are, all of them are hurting; so this is a watershed moment to bring the people together: what you need is a network of 34 community organizations on the island to break the chokehold of party politics. Overtime these organization will become so powerful that they will become the gatekeepers for the people against political opportunists. The information for creating such organizations is all over the internet. We need a few men and women to seize this historic opportunity. Every piece of garbage will tell you that such a movement cannot happen; But pay them no mind...these are mainly detractors who benefit from the current system.

What if one day the ignorant people of Saint Lucia would ignore ALL the bastards put forward by their yardfowls as representatives, would the NATIONAL interest for once not take centre-stage in the formation of the government?

OK. It means kicking out all the UWP and SLP party, LIARS, RACIST, CONNIVING BUSINESS PEOPLE fronting for others and their family businesses, just waiting to line their pockets with deals. It means a very conscious effort at seeking out TALENTED, skilled and knowledgeable individuals BOTH AT HOME AND ABROAD.

All this idle talk before and after independence is worthless. The country is sinking under the weight of the jackass ministers we have been sending to parliament.

Change the god-damn order of things idiots. It is time to vote some independent intelligent people into government for once!

If we continue to do the same darn thing over and over, and expect a different result we are just plain jackass people hiding behind the excuse that we behaving as though we are mad. The fact is that Saint Lucians have remained from slavery, an abysmally ignorant and a pathetically stupid and backward people -- save a few who have left our shores -- and are rarely coming back.
