Still digesting this multi course meal after 2nd read.

The writer has mapped out the disputed territory in panoramic view.
Will the DMZ or depoliticized Zone demarcated between causation and correlation -hold. Or is the neutral economic debate as fragile as the current Gaza ceasefire?

Don't listen too much to economists, they are like financial historians - great at telling you what happened in the past, but no good now. Even the oft cited Keynes said he didn't know why people cling to the views of long dead economists.

The fact is this - any economic systems needs to recognise the following principles:

1. Humans are acquisitive creatures, you have to allow them to keep the majority of the fruits of their labours.

2. Live within you means. Governments have a habit of promising the earth, and the electorate are complicit because they are voting themselves presents. It takes strong politicians to say no.

3. Don't be allowing the whole world to come and pilfer your natural assets and resources.

Import duties are sky high in St. Lucia. Reduce them by 50%. This means that people can buy more. More tourist will arrive as everything become cheaper. Of course more debt, but temporarily as employment will rise due to more consumption. More deficit, but can be compensated partly by reduction of civil servants. This will stimulate the economy. Ask for advise the government and business men in Panama.

Excellent form

Please stand atop MT Gimie with a a bullhorn that can cover 238 sq miles and

shout out (preferably at midnight)
the 3 herculean pillars of true national character that you have so If Atheisteloquently stated.

Thank you

In my opinion # 2 represents 1980's to current malaise.

All levels of the working class and the government LIVED HIGH on the hog. It was a mutual dizzy/groggy hogfest.

NOW that the swamp of economic inertia is converting to stagnant financial quicksand

we are contemplating throwing out the baby with the basin of water.

Teddy Roosevelt used his mega charisma and legit powers to jumpstart the ecological preservation movement.

Today the most beautiful places in
EL Norte are its magnificent national state city parks, forests preserves etc.

Imagine if Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Gateway, and even the only coral reef park off Florida were allowed commercial foraging for profit.

The swirling finacial quicksand is not cause for emotional panic.

This Simply Beautiful land with its incredible romanticism of heritage must not sell out like supercial hollywood glamor.

We need the functionality of cotton over the style and sensuality of lycra/spandex- After all this is the tropics not the temperate latitudes.

Unfortunately, our very young -youth oriented society cut it milk teeth on overt consumerism -gone wild.

How could they learn that less is more
-A penny saved is a penny gained

- On payday -pay yourself first by visiting your savings account

-buy local products first

-early to bed early to rise (do sleep longer) Not only is longer sleep resuscitative / healing time for mind & body
- it actually saves the need to intake more fuel thus less threat of obesity-hypertension

WALK safely every day. Use private vehicle as last resort.

Watch a limited amount of TV then watch the sunset, tend to a plant, keep a diary(reflections and feelings included), a day, week, month, annual and 5 year planner- goals included with as much supporting details.

Synchronise your planners with your diary.

Pray at least 1x per day if you beleive in the Divine God

If Atheist, Meditate 3x daily, include basic yoga if possible

Everyday Simple controlled breathing & stretchig exercise

Learn to cook frugal meals that include your yard or window grown herbs, vegetables

Instead of soda pop .buy local limes / lemons squeeze 1-2 into tall glass of crushed ice and clean (boiled water NO SUGAR

WATCH your salt intake. Be afraid of processed sugar

If you must use canned veggees rinse with lost of water before using

-and with back to basics discipline in our neighborhoods we can build the necessary STAMINA to take on the inevitable rigors of national economic belt tightening.

I cant help but think that the crap you smoke is not good. Lord above.
St.Lucias problems are easy to fix . We need a leadership that is prepared to change what has gone on since 79.
Days for jobs for the boys in the Party are gone. Wakey wakey.

As long as any one party DOMINATES the government, WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE JOBS FOR THE BOYS.

Get rid of the voting pattern where a party gets a block a votes WITHOUT INDEPENDENT MPS.

We must get some FOUR INDEPENDENT MPS in who can FORCE A COALITION GOVERNMENT. Germany, Italy and other European governments perform quite well under coalitions.

We must break Saint Lucia's nasty habit of placing complete party-member idiots, morons, and disgusting buffoons, in the position to decide who is going to govern this godforsaken country NONSTOP ... for years on end, and with no damn relief in sight. IT IS TIME TO PUT A HALT TO THIS FRIGGING DISGUSTING COLONIAL CRAP, SAINT LUCIA.

@3:14

PLEASE READ & SOAK IN 5:28 poignant response

May I add the Israel coalition gov.

Now if this teen weeny nation surrounded by large nations with radical agendas that include gobbling her up hook line sinker pole and person-

can survive and make remarkable achievements in agro-military-industrial productions

-voila! Said framework ought to dislodge the stagnant logjam of political doldrum affecting Sweet Helen

And by the by 3:14

I only indulge in Twinnings Earl Grey TEA @ twilight, before and after supper -with some Bhrams or Bach biscuits.

Thankfully, all public places I frequent are SMOKELESS -under penalty of LAW.

You should advocate for said smoking ban in your habitat.

My litany of frugal practices are not knew -in fact my grandparents dictated most of them to me in Creole! They are repeated here as motivation that we as lay folks can do our parts -no matter how small to help the grander national economic challenges..

But then again there are some of us with Bombastic charismatic appeal -as in Dance Hall ruffians- who won't give a farthing for a diagnostic checkup of the ECONOMIC ENGINE of the state locomotive.

-but would rather see it breakdown so that their FAVORITE train driver can takeover the operations powered by the worsening derelict engine.

Garcon, musical chairs are for children's bon-bon, Ju-c and Ice cream parties.

A taxpayer support of an election fund that makes it possible for independents or negotiated coalition governments- is most promising!

Short of that coalition, a Che or Saudi style of gov is the remedial WAKE up call you implied!

Typo

I meant please read & soak 5:48

totally on point response.

There is much alacrity in his vehemence.

I feel his PATRIOTISM

On the other hand your "bajuhn" wannabe drop insult to vanquish an opposing view is so Gone With The Waterfront of Olde Conway.

My idea of a TOUGH GUY/ GAL is one who has spent at least a decade or more of winters in Europe / El Norte / Canada studying or working to ekk out a living- on their own means!

Can you demonstrate how a change in only leadership, SANS MAJOR political machinery OVERHAUL can bring into fruition even mere survival beyond the current economic "calcification";

-that is decades long in its plaque build up across most of our vital socio-economic systems.

If we cannot collaborate effectively for Helen's well being -we most certainly will perish together in paradise....

except of course those of us who have escape pods ready for jettisoning to the triangle of milk, honey & manna:
Europe / El Norte / Canada

-on the backs of winterized immigrants!

Both of Saint Lucia's two MAIN political parties have been presenting this country with jackass leadership ... on end. Their yardfowls are content on taking turns at the political trough.

It is not even unusual to hear those lackeys say it clearly that the have had their time at the trough or government. And ... it is time for their turn at the trough.

These hordes of pure nasty low-minded Saint Lucians have no interest in the general growth of economic pie so that all will benefit. They are only concerned that their party wins, so that they can share the spoils, "honestly" as the victors, and dishonestly. Who is afraid of the sham that is the commission of enquiry?

The result has been the political stench of widespread connivance of malfeasance by relays of party faithfuls, consultants and ministers. Afterwards, each side in our idiot population of political nincompoops are just too happy to parrot the same crap. That is, when the other opposing party was in power they did the same political nastiness too.

The glorification of crap society! This is Saint Lucia.

Our generational hordes of jackasses refuse to accept that without a moral compass, this vicious cycle of corruption, toadyism and cronyism WILL NOT EVER GET BROKEN!

Look around. See where all this foolishness and jackass thinking by the older dumb ass generations has taken us today. Their complete idiocy is bankrupting this nation at every turn. It is holding to ransom those coming after them, by not giving these younger folk a fair chance to develop and to grow a peaceful and prosperous life and future.

That is what the foolish NYC should be looking at, instead of jockeying for political office.

The uncomfortable truth is that our older generations and those currently greying in leadership positions, are still today creating a very sick society.

Miscreants, reprobates, slimeballs, scumbags, known jailbirds, drug lords and the dregs and riff-raff of this society are acceptable and held up as heroes, as praiseworthy and as idols.

There is no economic theory that explains serial ministerial financial decisions that involve making losses of $45 millon as with Frenwell, $86 million for recovering the lost properties of Black Bay, and $500 million, in the illegal/unconstitutional Grynberg Affair. The return on investment or ROI, in each case has been zero.

Investors work for a return on investment alright -- not for an ROI, a return on ignorance.

Dwight Venner has overstayed his usefulness. For over twenty-five years same old; same old.

He now needs to be sent on retirement. It is long overdue.

Massa DAY DONE.

When central bankers get themselves all mixed up with politicians; pandering to their whims and fancies to keep a job; then their usefulness is no longer useful.

They must be kicked out of their positions of convenience for themselves. It is all about living high on the hog. and having as many jar-bals as they can.

Yesterday @1:00 PM, like a pig wallows in mud, you seem to relish the fact that you have nothing to offer to remedy the island's growing pains, jackass?
