I think the electorate deserves some credit. There is a new level of maturity among the electorate.Firstly as bad as things are we can proudly acclaim that our elections do not create violence at least not physical violence.
However the electorate in Souferrie should be commended for their maturity, they eat his chicken, drank his rum, took his money and then rejected Chasnet , now thats maturity , the people realised how dangerous it would have been for our country have a family with economic power to olso have political power, they realised that this was nothing other than the aristocracy /landed gentry attempting to reclaim our country, thanks to the people of Souferrie their plot has to be put on hold.
If the UWPs had won the election how long do you think King would have lasted before he was thrown out and replaced with the great white hope.

Number two comment totally agree with you, but do you not think that in Kenny the landed gentry are still at the helm, have you not noted the people Kenny has appointed Fletcher Foster La Corbenere,King all light skin elitist who feel their privileged birth gives them the right to govern over us without standing for election
Number two comment dont be fooled we must remain vigilant or they will take our country again.

Blogger at 3:53pm...you are so right. This is high class hypocrisy at work here...first it was TEAM LABOUR now the SLP Government under the leadership of Kenny Anthony has sidelined qualified persons who fought hard on the political battlefield.

Fletchie, laCorb, Kim and other OECS elitist are simply reaping the harvest for the hard work of lelia Haracksingh, Fregis, Mangal, Dr. Raymond and Dr. Long. As the song goes, where has all...TEAM LABOUR gone to?

The SLP government is already showing signs of group conflict especially when strong Labour party supporters are crying foul with this Administration's policies. If the UWP can marshall heavy forces with quality candidates and removing its current leader and Frederick they can regain power at the next election.

blogger 654.. that is a sign of maturity when dr.kenny chose qualified competent individuals. they need not be those who always vie for a win at the poles.. i strongly believe not because you go up doesnt mean u deserve to be a minister.. some ppl have strengths be it brainstorming in a ministry or being a good community representative..assuring for the latter that their constituents can re-elect them if they rep well..
its true local eletist hold the realms of power but compared to the last administration they are qualified to hold such a post ...what is always lacking though in politicians is innovation i cannot tell if a minister has ever broadcasted his own ideas to come to pass be it on a community level or an infastructual one.. like i dont know if they ppl we elect have any brains or standards.. many of us locals travel and watch tv and see how far behind our island is... and those guys travel more than u and i... food 4 thought ...

There is simply no justifiable excuse for the sidelining of qualified candidates like Dr. Long, Dr. Raymond and others in favour of elites who have never endured hardship on the campaign trails. How can our administration look on and feel satisfied to have a qualified medical doctor as Deputy Speaker and qualified Economist away from Cabinet decisions and national policy formation.

For the life of me I simply do not understand and will never understand this move by my government.

We should not give the crumbled UWP any opportunity to amass strength by our seemingly unscrupulous and ill-advised strategies. The assignment of Dr. Long and Dr.Raymond including the non-assignment of Fregis and Mangal must be addressed speedily.

And yes, our SLP supporters are crying foul all over St.Lucia...let's correct the mistakes. The SLP cannot afford to lose its support among the electorate.

i understand your passion anon..642am.. but remember someone has to be preferably from the ruling party gov to be appointed as deputy speaker until that system is changed.. dr.ubaldus raymond is a junior minister and his senior minister is emma hyppolyte.. she has much more experience in saint lucia than he .. she is certainly up to the job even more than him even with his phd... cause she was former director of NIC.. but he is indeed an asset and perhaps with formative reshuffling of cabinet both ubaldus and dr.Long [pep] may be given adequate positions until then we still have qualified ppl leading .. its not written in stone that politicians who win seats should be ministers.. what happen to they put themselves up to serve.. is that just politic jargon .. they knew i am certain b4 elections were called that not everyone would get a

ministry...that goes for all past elections i presume so anon.. pls be more realistic esp in this day and age.. that is a norm and not the rule ... i believe that might be also true in other islands in the region ..
