If the Gros Islet Police have received several complains about close calls, the question is why the police not charge the bus drivers to stop this practice.

...Lives are at stake, stop jawboning and take action...like traffic police?

riding up and down the high way on the motorbike and see nothing or take no action = A waist of taxpayers money

Maybe some body suspended the police right to enforce the law. Maybe they have forgotten their oath of office. Only in St. Lucia

Inside the town of Gros Islet by the primary school is exact the same situation.
Busdrivers stop on the pedestrian crossing and nobody can see what is going on.

Who ever wrote this very important article is inconsistent in grammar and syntax ... contradictory sentences.

To the empty headed "jawboning" commentators above, if you have something to add, it should be CONSTRUCTIVE instead of critical of the people who are trying their best to make our highways safer.

According to the written article, it is at the police's discretion that they are appealing to the bus drivers, and to YOU (whether driver or pedestrian) to be careful on that portion of the road. Proper road signage is there for all to see and take action accordingly.

My constructive criticism is that a pedestrian crossing should be laid down between the bus stand by Stephanie's Lodge and the opposing bus stand (which are identified), thereby giving everyone a chance to stop for pedestrians to traverse to/from either side of the road (Does a crossing already exist at that location?).

It is unfortunate, and sad, that most bus drivers see their passengers as "fares" and not as human beings.

@6.19am
If you put a pedestrian crossing direct by the bus stop you will have more traffic jam because buses coming aprox. all 20 seconds on both sides.
Bus drivers should just pick up passengers only from bus regular stops.It will save them gas,breaks,parts = $$$
After a short time passengers will get use to walk this 20yards to any next bus stop.
