John Roebling, the genius that design the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883 made of wire rope/steel cable. An engineering marvel a span stretching from lower Manhattan to Brooklyn Heights. He is turning in his grave.. that crap should not be called a Bridge. Bridge building is a concept, thank you Pat for your presentation on that concept.

Read JASON SIFFLET's the FLOGG BLOGG.

An article entitled ?IS CABINET HIDING ONE OF ITS OWN?"

And "RICHARD FREDERICK SOON TO GET HIS US VISA BACK".

I am looking forward to reading the article that says" US VISA OF KENNY ANTHONY, PHILLIP LA CORBINIERE ET AL CANCELLED? LOL.

In the UK, bridges go up all the time with little fuss. St Lucia is the only place I've been to where it's such a dog's dinner.

Sounds like Pat Brown should be in charge of the engineering department as the current lot are useless.

Pat, don't stay on the sideline and criticize; it's not helping the situation; if you can do a better job jump right in.

is it incompetence or megalomania of some bridge contractors to take on contracts who are some shoes to big for them to handle.
it also questioning the competence how contracts like this are given out...

Pat, you will remember the Bridge over the Canaries River, and how many times it was built, washed away and rebuilt again.

You will agree that in Bridge construction, not the ones over a Highway with Traffic below, but the ones spanning water like a Brook or a River, a lot must be taken in consideration. No one should mess with water, most especially in a place susceptible to heavy rainfall, hurricanes and earthquake.
The picture shown of the Construction Site and your description of the fiasco had me questioning "WHY GOD, WHY MUST IT ALWAYS BE ST. LUCIA, WHY, WHY? WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DESERVE THIS?"

Pat, like you, I have spent all my life in Design and Construction, Be it Roads, Bridges, High Rise, Residential, Commercial, Industrial Water Services etc. I don't have to look twice at a picture to see a disaster ready to happen - at the cost of $ 11 million - who the hell will pay for that?

Pat I'm glad you brought this problem to the forefront before it got worse and this poor country had to borrow more money to finish the job. When will we ever learn?

Pat, this is Clifford, keep up the good work my friend.

Pat Brown for all the years I have known him going back to the 1070's has always spoken up for the best and for the advancement of St. Lucia and St. Lucians. Unfortunately he was never interested in entering politics. Of course; knowing Pat he would not stand for the crap that passes for political office in this country.

Short cuts is the magic word this days, unfortunately with disastrous results in some projects.Hopefully the taxpayer dont have to pay the bill.
Some contractors are just on the way to spoil their reputation.

I think it was a few weeks ago I read a well written article by Mr. John Peters, who made reference to a Bridge that was under construction. I do not know, but I believe it was the Bois D' Orainge bridge.
If it is, then there is something wrong somewhere, because why would two reputable Civil Engineers devoted time to expose a problem, which to me is so obvious to any experienced Engineer.
Pat I know but I do not know Mr. Peters, but I have great respect for his writings.

I have a question - who is the Minister in charge of 'Works & Communications' and I would like to know who is the Contractor involved in this project. Will some body let us know on this Blog? after 56 years of permanent absence from St.Lucia I still have a right to know and to question what's going on.

People, the Tax payers of St Lucia, my relatives and yours have to pay for that so far, and maybe more later on, for what I consider to be POOR PLANNING, INADEQUATE OVERSIGHT, SHODDY CONSTRUCTION AND FAILURE ULTIMATELY, if something is not done right away to take the proper steps, that Pat Brown or John Peters are adequately qualified to do.

Knowing the political climate we live in on the ground and the mind-set of certain folks, I must qualify this by saying, NO POLITICS INVOLVED HERE. Period.

Let me add to my statement @ 10:50 AM.
Some time ago I was informed by reliable sources that the DAM is chocked with Silt and other debris due to lack of proper maintenance, the result of which is a substantial and inadequate flow of water.
Can some body please tell me what is the hold up on the St. Jude Hospital? I thought there was sufficient money collected for that project.

What the hell is wrong with construction projects on the Island?

It's me Clifford, (just asking).

It is more expensive to hire an amateur, than it is to hire a professional.
