New Hotels Planned For St. Lucia

I have always made the point that we in the Caribbean are closed to Haiti than we are to Miami.

For those who want to be obtuse let me explain further.

For all the 1Phones or Masters Degrees or million dollar homes , the fact is that in the character we show as a people, in the level of civilized conduct that we show we are nearer to the unfortunate and destitute of Haiti than we are to the structured life of Florida.

We are a country where we accept an 86% out of wedlock rate in a world where all the evidence is that a civilized well structured country has a preponderance of families consisting of a MARRIED MAN AND WOMAN WITH CHILDREN.

Here in St. Lucia we accept when a big up man has an outside child with another man's wife - and nothing for dat! And then we give him big positions and lionize him.

We borrow money on the public purse to the point of bankruptcy and then the main cause of all that borrowing goes to local and regional forum to act as if he has never in his life seen the Ministry of Finance that he led for a decade.

Therefore neither in the social or fiscal arena are we a people that show any of the character of an advanced civilized nation - yet we like to 'walk tall' when in fact we are crawling alobg the gutter.

For all those who do not think that matters unfortunately for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore our freeness social and fiscal actions will shortly result in a complete breakdown of our societies inclusive of massive layoffs in the public and private sectors and riots.

You do not fight against natural forces as liberals will soon find out.

Fifty years of liberal freeness masquarading as freedom is soon to take its toll. All the feminism, the gay marriage support, the sexual orientation push, the tax borrow and spend mentality, the prostitution push, the sexual and fiscal freeness will deal the final fatal hand - and we will all pay the price.

The underlying fundamentals are falling apart. These hotels (if they survive) are just bandaids on a big wound.

If tourism is going to be main cylinder of this economy, why are so-o-o-o-o-o many of our intellectuals hell-bent on relegating Saint Lucians ... now and in the future ... to the bottom stratas of the tourism workforce?

Jesus Suffering Christ, why must we CONDEMN Saint Lucians and/or a sizeable part of the workforce to simply lower paying jobs in the industry that has become the main income generator in the economy.

Damn it! Where is the god-damn
foresight in all this?

Why is there such a vacuum of leadership in Saint Lucia, after boasting of having two Nobel laureates?

It does NOT take a lot of smarts to realize this fact: More hotel CAPACITY does NOT necessarily correlate with, nor translate into greater employment growth, or GDP. Neither does greater capacity correlate with greater individual income flows, unless INDIRECTLY by (government planned) macro-economic wealth, or income transfers.

When and where will there be greater inclusivity ... at ALL levels with respect to the national workforce?

Why is the economic thinking and reasoning in Saint Lucia always so darn shallow?

To date, no god-damn so-called leader in Saint Lucia has ever articulated a clear-cut vision, backed up by any type of defined plan of action for the country. The myopic bullshit from so-called leaders in Saint Lucia continues to deluge this country. When will we ever begin to turn the corner on this? How much more crap will the people have to swallow?

Dwight Vener made a presentation on the status of the Economic condition of the OECS states and hardly anyone in this country has shared an opinion on it.

Talk shows abound with ignorance and inexactitudes that make me shiver in disgust.

I wish we can pull ourselves out of our stupor and rise to levels I know we can.

Almost invariably, our talkshow hosts are complete $%#% wholes. What do you expect to come of these? Would that by any chance be perfume?
