NO! NO! NO! Don't blame all of the media alone.

SNO is an SLP mouthpiece. What do you expect from that. The Voice is pro-UWP mouthpiece. What do you expect from there?

Our literacy rate is measured by attendance in school. The focus hasNothing to do about ability to read. What do you expect from that?

The Open University College of Le Duke de Bwa-Bwa, is the locus of received wisdom in the country. What do you expect from that?

Doesn't all of the above re-enforce the saying that Saint Lucia is idiot country?

Who will comment on the 1.5 million dollars that got stolen at BORDELAIS? Why is Dr. Kenny Anthony not saying a word on this. By the way where is the Minister? Kenny's biggest mistake was to bring Herman to be Director of Bordelais

How the media is failing us! 'you can fool some of the people all the time or all the people some of the time but you cant fool all the people all the time' - Time to unmask the Corrupt!

....so true, you could have written this piece to the American Media...the pundits have taken over. We can do with an Edward R Murrow in these troubling times.

One is already unmasked by its own stupid PR detail. The moron told the public that a certain politician marched with the CSA for the 14.5% wage increase when out of office. When in office, that same individual who the press release said knew beforehand, at that time of the march that the country could not afford that, the character was defending the promise made.

Is this not playing a disgusting political game with the lives and future of the people? Does that sound to you as being patriotic?

The country then had to borrow $160 million to pay that wage increase. Today, we are hearing a different song. The country is facing a deficit of $87 million. Therefore, the country was pushed into unsustainable debt back there, by the same person who knew beforehand that was where it was going to end. Today we are savouring the "better days" of a very bitter harvest.

Ask yourself these questions. What kind of person does this sort of thing? What kind of character would do such a thing?

This article hit the nail on the head. The media just want to flash things up and leave matters there. So often there could be the opportunity to really achieve by some investigative journalism. The media could really get the bit between their teeth about so many issues - crime, what really is happening about the forensic lab, the impact of its non functioning on the justice system, why haven't the courts employed stenographers etc etc.

I am relieved to see someone else is noticing this state of affairs in St. Lucia media.

Why hasn't the media dig deeper and deeper and deeper into the Auditor General's Reports?

Unfortunately except for RICK WAYNE the media is really made up of persons who could not fit in any other job.

The unfortunate truth is that much of what you are suggesting is simply beyond the capability of many local media practitioners and no one seems to be helping them. They seem to be struggling with just the basics.

For example, is there no one in the hierarchy of HTS to point out to their reporters how ridiculous they sound referring to a meeting a "sit down". They may think it sounds "cool" to say that, but against what standard are they measuring themselves?

Another example - SNO is very effective at breaking news quickly, but their quality of writing is atrocious. There are many local reporters who seem to struggle with basic English composition. Jerry George, a prominent media practitioner, works for Monroe College. Couldn't he use his influence to organize a remedial English course for media practitioners?

I don't believe that the prominent international journalists that we keep hearing about were somehow born with the talent. They had training, worked hard at the craft and received help and mentoring along the way. Who will help the local journalists? That's certainly not something you want the "government" to be doing.

It's time for the senior figures in the profession to step up and help their colleagues, rather than just trying to find a comfort zone for themselves.
