JUSTICE TOO LONG DELAYED

I applaud this initiative, it is a sad society that locks people up like this without a fair trial. I hope they manage to fast track those on remand and hopefully some will be released quickly, even if found guilty, as they will no doubt have served their time by being on remand for a disproportionate amount of time. Its interesting that there are no other comments so far, indicative I believe of the island mentality that finds this situation ok. I congratulate you all and wish every success with this initiative and your future
endeavors.

The problem preceding this: Separate facilities /amenities for the broad categories.

A previously CONVICTED felon of a major capital offense cannot be expected to enjoy the same AWAITING trial HOLDING PATTERN as a first timer
or even a prior convicted with mild misdemeanor offense conviction.

You really need an off island penal colony for the HARD CORE-U KNOW EM without even reading their rap sheet
-the type who are wrong
-know they are bad to da bone
-and feeling stronger every day about their mania.
-the BLACKHOLE stare with shell shock mortal combat presence.
-the sociopathic criminals
-chemical and substance abusers / addicts
-delusional fanatics

You get the categorical ramifications? A good postal clerk worth his her mail sorting dexterity can add clarity to what's needed.

Dear Sir,
can I take this opportunity to ask the Minister of Home Affairs, to tell me of one single thing he has done right, or one single initiative he has introduced to show he is capable of doing his job. I await his reply. Ball in your court La Corb.

Anonymous there are few comments not that people are disinterested or find the situation OK. It is just that people are tired and fed up. Aspects of what this group is saying has long been said by Mary Francis, the DPP, Veronica Bernard on her radio programme, Andie George and a host of other persons either in articles, on talk shows or where ever.

Nothing has changed. You would have heard the Minister of National Security in a defiant and arrogant tone say neither Mary Francis or the fire service association will push him to do anything. Not on his watch.

That says it all

Not only in St. Lucia is this problem, there is no incentive among the legal profession to move the process along. The very same problem exists in Canadian gaols.

On top of this, the island is full of garbage, roads with potholes or unpaved.Plenty beggars, thiefs etc.
Abandoned and unfinished projects and buildings. It is going faster and faster down the drain. plenty of expats living here for many years, want to leave. piles of homes for sale. hardly any new construction. food prices soaring. banks are having enormous problems in debt collection. Many bars and restaurants closed or abandoned in Rodney Bay.

The LAWYERS in Parliament and in the private sector; operate like a LODGE and they all have a vested interest in making as much money; in keeping the blasted system broken.

If we the citizens fix it; they feel they will not make as much money. This is one reason we need to start keeping lawyers out of Parliament and in Government.

This is what we can call responsible and good citizens.

Those people such as the Prime Minister; his Cabinet Ministers and the hand-picked Permanent Secretaries; come to these offices daily; only to collect their fat-cat salaries and allowances; and to travel to collect more per diems.

Nothing in the way they work tells us that there is anywhere on their work agenda and the number one priority; being the betterment of the people of this country.

By the time they spend two weeks in government; they have travelled no less than seven times; and their bellies begin to bloat like pigs by the day.

The fact that the Ministry of Finance has cut the Prisons budget without examining other issues for correction and redress; speaks to their level of incompetence and ineffectiveness in dealing with all the operations of government.

This is exactly how they manage every aspect of the operations of government.

This country will implode and explode. The politicians will be the ones to first suffer; for the neglect of the citizens.

Does anyone know how to join this advocacy group?

To the "Anonymous" at 5:52 AM and at 6:00 AM ... you have both hit the nail on the head!!

Good wishes are extended to "Remand Justice". Both Dr King and Mr Small are definitely NOT "idlers". I also hope they, and their group, make the "government of lawyers", and the our so called justice system, squirm in their seats.

Their demands will not happen overnight, it may take a few years ... but I am on their side, and will sign up to join their fight/plight.
