If borbol is the accepted national ethical standard, we can readily understand why we have circulating convoys of nincompoops as government ministers and public servants hiring others like themselves to give us shoddy substandard work in ALL departments of life.

This borbolist mentality courses through the viens of the reprobates we continouously elect to office. These very same reprobates put others of their nature and character in positions of power and office.

Saint John Compton for example, knew that the representative on the ballot paper for the UWP in one notable constituency was a complete idiot, but Saint Compton did not choose to get a better person.

We have a pattern. Saint Compton repeatedly insulted us with his bigotry of placing real #$#$# wholes before as representatives, as long as they were from his party, because they would give him power.

How great is a leader who surrounds himself with known idiots, you may ask?

It is like a girlfriend tagging along with a very ugly female. The message is 'see what you would have had if you didn't have me?'

The future of the country was not his concern. You see this displayed in the change to recognizing himself during his lifetime.

Again, it is said that just before his last election, when asked in New York about a succcessor taking his age into consideration, his reply was 'they would have to settle that among themselves', or words to that effect.

Almost all the English placenames in Saint Lucia since the 1960s bear the name John Compton.

But he loved this country so damn much that he requested that his remains be buried out to sea, and not on the land of the idiots he created and promoted.

So the political and social mischief continued and took on virulent form, when the UWP cabinet of miscreants became fully confident that they could disdainly display the effrontery of their real despicable characters.

Remember, some unbelievable quotes like 'politics is for bad boys'?

The evolution of Saint Lucia's post-colonial national culture has been conditioned and shaped by a total disregard and a disdain for high standards of any kind.

Therefore Pat, don't fight the symptoms. Fight the real causes of our national disease.

I call you hooked on Compton votmit. Boy Compton is gone. Deal with the present.

You heap scorn on Compton but have forgotten that Kenny when ask the same question about who is likely to succeed him , said virtually the same thing!!!

The cancer is not on one side or even wholely within the set of fellas that the SLP replaced. The SLP has had four chances to prove its worth during and after the Compton era- and all we are left with is empty bag.

I am not even going to remind you that prior to the Compton era, they were the only local and internal rulers we knew. St Lucia did not begin with Compton but with these early idiots who ruled with a colonial mindset.

PIP is a product of idiots gone by. Carrying on like he is qualified for the ministry he holds-and is Lord of all he surveys is symptomatic of the problems we face.

Are you aware that what you have offered is just an advice and it is not an absolute recommendation? You cannot unilaterally dictate to the ministry that the piers should be demolished. Engineering like all other professions do not all see things the same way. The way you may perceive of a particular design does not mean other engineers must adhere to your design. What is important is that the structure does not fail due to live or dead load, scouring, and hydraulic impediments. If the structure fails we can conclude that it was poorly designed. Mind you, a bridge is a hydraulic structure and it could sustain more hydraulic damages than damages due to vehicular traffic. Historically, bridge collapse is more prevalent in flood time than due to traffic load. I am not aware of the bridge in question, but I think you should follow a holistic approach to the structure before rendering a verdict. In any event, the Ministry of Infrastructure should be making the final approval of any design irrespective of the consultant's recommendation. The ministry should have its standard specs and all designs should be in strict compliance with the standards. Therefore, the problem is not with the consultants and contractors but the client agency which in this case is the Ministry of Infrastructure. Finally, the piers you alluded to must be protected from scouring if it is to remain part of the structure otherwise it may eventually be washed away.

Not being a structural engineer I can readily see where the writer is coming from - it seems to me the logic of clearspan briges is irrefutable.

But is anyone who could make a sea change in this sort of area actually listening?????

Perhaps a bribe is necessary to effect changes!!

Just another of our very many jenny asses, which is in dire need for psychological and philosophical help.

This jenny ass most definitely does not know anything about our colonial history.

Poor thing! She went to school as a goat and emerged from the gates as an ass.

There is hope for that women and her male counterparts as more and more Saint Lucians take unversity and college level courses in management, business and economics.

Surely, our level of ignorance will be reduced, as it is due for a major shake-up as the defenders of the status quo pass into oblivion, pushing up daisies and the like.
