He Who Is Without Sin

I commend Mr. Rias for the deliberate and decisive actions taken to address the abuse of public's trust by a deviant priest using the congregation as his "Human Shield".

In truth Mr. Rias did not follow the teachings of the Bible, because the Priest should have been beaten and flogged publicly on the Gros Islet beach.

Luke 12 47-49 Jesus says beat the Guilty and the Innocent servant!!

47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

See Josie, this feeble excuse of "Do not judge" and don't cast stones is the problem that has emboldened these criminals around Castries. We should start keeping a few pieces of concrete and the Bull-Pisle" near at hand to arrest the crime that plagues the island.

Happily I am an atheist. Do whatever the hell you all want.
Why didn't Jesus do that himself. At least, he was more educated the that other two-bit bloodthirsty warring merchant and prophet so-called.

Give on to caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God, the things that are God's

Kinda favor redemption, forgiveness with potential for salvation- aligns more smoothly with my human rational cognition.

Although I respect your free will choice, I need to share with you how appalled I am at the region/bloc of atheism for shooting down Malaysia Air. It is my hope that you condemn said event, even though you probably share a great affinity with that regions leadership among non believers.

Here is a song /poem by John Lennon that even an atheist can tolerate as we pause in solemn respect for the plight of those who perished and the wayward indiscretions of the human family.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you will join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You, you may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you will join us
And the world will live as one

11:42,

I like the music that accompanies this song but the lyrics? problems.

No Countries? everyone on earth English? or Chinese? or Russian? no variety = boredom. The variation of cultures and languages makes this life so interesting, not to mention the variation in our Races and dishes.

NO Religion? how ungrateful to the Creator of the Rain whereof you drink to quench ones thirst.

No Hell?? Columbus gets off with the genocide, and the Slave Trade is without justice.

see like I said, the music I like but the lyrics are flawed.

Here's Religion that makes sense to me and I hope for you also.

Surah Fatir

Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto those whom We elected of Our bondmen. But of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm, and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds, by Allah's leave. That is the great favour! (32)

Gardens of Eden! They enter them wearing armlets of gold and pearl and their raiment therein is silk. (33)

And they say: Praise be to Allah Who hath put grief away from us. Lo! Our Lord is Forgiving, Bountiful, (34)

Who, of His grace, hath installed us in the mansion of eternity, where toil toucheth us not nor can weariness affect us. (35)

But as for those who disbelieve, for them is fire of hell; it taketh not complete effect upon them so that they can die, nor is its torment lightened for them. Thus We punish every ingrate. (36)

And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for him who reflected to reflect therein? And the warner came unto you. Now taste (the flavour of your deeds), for evil-doers have no helper. (37)

Lo! Allah is the Knower of the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. Lo! He is Aware of the secret of (men's) breasts. (38)

He it is Who hath made you regents in the earth; so he who disbelieveth, his disbelief be on his own head. Their disbelief increaseth for the disbelievers, in their Lord's sight, naught save abhorrence. Their disbelief increaseth for the disbelievers naught save loss. (39)

Are you certain that the majority of those separatists are atheist?
One thing, the reason for shooting down of that plane, as opposed to what is happening daily in Iraq, was not supported by religious differences. It is just cultural bloody mayhem that is the acceptable way to life.
"We have no king but Caesar". Analogously, over there, in the Middle East and in most Moslem countries, they have no life but murderous mayhem. Show me just one peaceful and at the same time, stable Moslem country.

Surah Al-Rad - The Thunder

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Alif , Lam , Mim , Ra. These are the verses of the Book. What has been sent down to you from your Lord is true, but most of the people do not believe. (1)

Allah is the One who raised the heavens without pillars that you can see them. Then He positioned Himself on the Throne and subjugated the sun and the moon, each one of them running to an appointed time. He manages all matters, elaborating the signs, so that you may be sure of meeting your Lord. (2)

He is the One who spread out the earth and made mountains and rivers on it, and created in it the pairs of two from all the fruits. He makes the night cover the day. Surely, in that there are signs for a people who think. (3)

And in the earth there are tracts of land neighboring each other, and gardens of grapes, and farms and date palms, some having twin trunks and some having a single one. (Although) all of them are irrigated with the same water, We make some of them better than others in taste. Surely, in that there are signs for a people who understand. (4)

If you wonder, then wondrous indeed is their saying, “Is it that, once we are dust, we are to be created anew?” They are those who have disbelieved in their Lord, and they are those who (shall) have shackles around their necks, and they are the people of the Fire. They shall remain there forever. (5)

They ask for evil to come sooner than good, while punishments have really come to pass (against people) earlier to them. And surely, your Lord is the lord of forgiveness for the people against their wrongdoing, and surely, your Lord is severe in punishing. (6)

The disbelievers say, “Why is it that no sign has been sent down to him from his Lord?” You are but a warner; and for every people there is a guide. (7)

Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs decrease or increase. 3 Everything has measure with Him. (8)

He is the Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is the Great, the High. (9)

Alike (for Him) is he, from among you, who speaks quietly and he who speaks aloud, and he who hides in the night and he who walks out in the day. (10)

For every one (from among you) there are angels replacing one another, in front of him and behind him, who guard him under the command of Allah. Surely, Allah does not change the condition of a people unless they change themselves. When Allah intends evil for a people, there is no way to turn it back, and for them there is no patron other than Him. (11)

He is the One who makes you see the lightening in fear and hope, and who forms the heavy clouds. (12)

The thunder proclaims His purity with His praise, and (so do) the angels, out of His awe. And He sends the thunderbolts and strikes with it whom He wills. They are quarrelling about Allah, and He is stern in His plan. (13)

Peter, Your article is on point except for the line “Clearly, what the priest is alleged to have done is wrong.”

Your statement is absurd and abominable. You cannot support that statement in any forum. “Alleged to have done is wrong.”… Please be guided accordingly, as the family studies their next more.

This thing is not over until the fat lady prays and smokes out the disciples of darkness.

SOM

Many years ago a very close friend ( muslim) of my sibling read to me quotes from the Quran during his visits. It was a casual ambiance and I recall making some universal connections to my crystallized knowledge.

Since then I have read widely on other eastern / orient religions and with typical respect

I appreciate your candor on Imagine - the musical score based on his gifted piano play- makes it a hit.

The following excerpt from a reviewer of its debut
sums up my sentiments about the lyrics

"Imagine" is a song written and performed by the English musician John Lennon. The best-selling single of his solo career, its lyrics encourage the listener to imagine a world at peace without the barriers of borders or the divisiveness of religions and nationalities, and to consider the possibility that the focus of humanity should be living a life unattached to material possessions."

This parallels your analysis' nevertheless my sentiments about Imagine maintains the diversirt of human cultures in the absence of Po;itica boundaries (as in comparing the physical and political maps of the Earth side by side.

To see the world in terms of where mountains, rivers, plains, deserts, seas, oceansetc. is closer to God's original creation . The colorful demarcations of its political counterpart (which change in the wake of wars) is more in line with mankind own self indulgent drive to consume the Earth.

Imagine does not mention God directly-The Creator is implied at the minimalist and transcendental for inductive or deductive reasoning. In other words Imagine is open ended pragmatism.

The focus of Imagine is more about embracing the plurality of the world (under God is implied) .That mankind can live together as loving siblings (under the birth of the One Father God as implied- because a true child of God will love another child of God). Here too the implication is Children of God before the advent of sin.

In my opinion the advent of sin heralds mankind's need for governance via Politics and religion- and the cascade of divisiveness and glut for material possessions- Sela

It is always a pleasure to interact with universal minds. people who are conscious of the diversity of humanity and know that the Earth is not 238 miles squared, and able to converse without the scourge of profane ignorance.

@ 6: 20

With much respect my assertion is to the region. It is a fact that ALL religions are a minority. Very few practice the state APPROVED churches. Most scholarly writings refer to the dominant country (which the separatists have cultural ties to ) as predominantly atheist.

If you were Catholic which country would you SEPARATE to join Iran or Italy?

Therefore, the probability of separatists being atheists is rather high.

Lets visit the inverse of this probability. Ukraine has the largest continuous Jewish presence in the entire former USSR and piggy back christian incursions. Consequently we can assume that religious folks would more easily enjoy tolerance in the Ukraine (of course Muslims would rather opt for Chechen).

The need to separate based on religious tolerance is greater than party politics (in the case of some countries the party is the religion of the state- ask Lenin or Stalin?

I believe that Atheism is a radical path to the Divine-that attempts to bypass religions mortal intermediaries.

Back to the shoot down of Malaysia Air. A ground forces air to air missile system is designed for incoming attacks at a fraction of the altitude of the civilian aircraft.

The missile battery can indicate altitude and probably speed of aircraft but not size and friend or foe signals.

Common sense should tell the trigger happy moron that
- at 5 miles up this is not an attack or
-wait till the optimal rate of descent to shoot
Was it Edmund Burke who said that evil thrives so long as good peopleremain passive bystanders -
something to that effect?

Oh please beam me up, Scotty....please!

I saw them riding in a dream, Hell-bent upon their course,
And each one with a sickening scheme as he rode on his horse...
And so they moved, this world to claim with utmost misery,
With death and suffering as their aim, their shame and infamy!
I saw them riding coast-to-coast, on sturdy steeds at night
And evil had them all engrossed, as if they were held tight...
And so they moved, one thought in mind, to bring the world despair,
Until the time four horsemen find their victims unaware!

I saw them riding recklessly, regardless, side-by-side,
As if their perfect destiny, each smiled with stubborn pride...
And so they moved and cut to shreds the mortal flesh of Man,
While moonbeams shone upon their heads as all four horses ran!
I saw them riding to my town and to my very street
And there they cast their curses down upon men's hands and feet...
And so they moved, unmerciful, upon the young and old,
To fill up every hospital with fever and with cold!
I saw them riding from my home, to Europe, for a spell
And I beheld that even Rome was subject to their Hell...
And so they moved, unmoved by deeds, unspeakable and foul,
Men's lives to quench like choking weeds or wicked wolves that howl!
I saw them riding, north and south, and east and west in time,
With blasphemies to fill each mouth, as if their perfect crime...
And so they moved, sharp tiger-toothed, repentant, not at all...
Four horses and four horsemen proved that even the mighty fall...

The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse by Denis Martindale

Someone Said:

Atheism is the result of Pride and Ignorance; of strong sense and decomposed reason, of good eating and ill living. It is the death of Hope and suicide of the soul.

from the Qur-an:

And had We willed, We verily could have quenched their eyesight so that they should struggle for the way. Then how could they have seen? (66)
And had We willed, We verily could have fixed them in their place, making them powerless to go forward or turn back. (67)
He whom we bring unto old age, We reverse him in creation (making him go back to weakness after strength). Have ye then no sense? (68)
And We have not taught him (Muhammad) poetry, nor is it meet for him. This is naught else than a Reminder and a Lecture making plain, (69)
To warn whosoever liveth, and that the word may be fulfilled against the disbelievers. (70)
Have they not seen how We have created for them of Our handiwork the cattle, so that they are their owners, (71)
And have subdued them unto them, so that some of them they have for riding, some for food? (72)
Benefits and (divers) drinks have they from them. Will they not then give thanks? (73)
And they have taken (other) gods beside Allah, in order that they may be helped. (74)
It is not in their power to help them; but they (the worshippers) are unto them a host in arms. (75)
So let not their speech grieve thee (O Muhammad). Lo! We know what they conceal and what proclaim. (76)
Hath not man seen that We have created him from a drop of seed? Yet lo! he is an open opponent. (77)
And he hath coined for Us a similitude, and hath forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away? (78)
Say: He will revive them Who produced them at the first, for He is Knower of every creation, (79)
Who hath appointed for you fire from the green tree, and behold! ye kindle from it. (80)
Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the like of them? Aye, that He is! for He is the All-Wise Creator, (81)
But His command, when He intendeth a thing, is only that he saith unto it: Be! and it is. (82)
Therefor glory be to Him in Whose hand is the dominion over all things! Unto Him ye will be brought back. (83)

I love atheists. At least they are more rational than idiot believers. Their gods have not moved too much away from those of Greek mythology. They still require blood, sacrifice and suffering besides being equally imperfect.

SOM and his disciplined verses may be the last shred of hope for this 'Helter Skelter" society- from the brink of moral collapse.

The traditional religions do not even mount an appeal for a national moral compass

The liberal pulpits echo The Silence Of The Lambs.
