How To Cut Expenses And Use Our Assets

It took Kenny's wrecking of the economy for personal gain just to get and retain his two titles, for ordinary Saint Lucians to finally take even the slightest interest in the levels of waste and squander politicians indulge. Few were outraged by the corruption until it hit home.

Personally, I do not feel that the price of keeping Kenny both as PM and as Minister of Fiance is worth the cost.

The game is not worth the candle. This individual is not only incompetent and incapable of doing the job, there is too great a cost in treasure with him in politics.

He as through the last Heads of Government Meeting has outlived his usefulness as a representative for anybody. It is time to put this horse to pasture.

Now that the entire country has to pay a very huge price for our failure and stupidity for not vetting the characters who we vote for, some of us are finally sitting up taking note.

Some of us are only now awakening to the fact that the politicians protect themselves IN ALL WAYS and always. Take for instance the issue of the pension benefit.

But the man in the street finally has to pay for all their squandermania, all their mistakes, all their deliberate shenanigans, and all their cynical mis-use of the Treasury to re-elect themselves through programmes like STEP.

The don't-caring and begging attitudes of our ignorant older folk and seniors regarding 'whosoever will may come' who run for office, including very well-known thieves and liars have set a very nasty precedent and a long-term drag on the development of the country.

We are beginning to feel the pain and to pay the price. Now that it is biting us in our tails, we see that, just as the good book says, 'the sins of the fathers shall fall upon the children'. Yes. That is even unto the third and fourth generations.

If St.Lucia is strapped for cash, why not lease Pigeon Island to a circus operator like the Ringling Brothers, or to park operators like Great Adventure and Walt Disney?
For the most part, St.Lucians cannot set foot on Pigeon Island unless they dig into their pockets; as a result, very few visit; and the few tourists who do visit, at a cost of US$7 per person, makes it unprofitable.
So why not try to get US$1billion for a 20 year lease providing that we get it back the same way it was given; and we are allowed out annual Jazz Festival.

From 2003 till 2007 there was a building boom and plenty of work. That is over now due to the world crisis and lack of credit. If a foreigner wants to buy land, build a home or buy an existing house, he will have to wait for an aliens license for 4 till 6 months at à high cost. When he sells this house he has to pay 10% tax on the sales price. hardly any houses are being sold. Prices have collapsed by 30% or more since 2008.

good and fresh thinking. It take outsiders to see what can be done, but why government departments are idling?

There is a vast mural on the wall of the very large post office building on 23rd street near Lexington Ave. Manhattan

The caption reads "Painted by unemployed artists under the (government's civil works program of the Great Depression"

Your article points to innovations that are cost effective and readily available.

Good looking out for the best interests of the general populace.

There is no justification for a Minister to be earning so big a salary while civil servants are threatened with pay cuts.
Kenny himself should take a 40 to 50% pay cut while he is still around. This is one stubborn man who cares only for his props and the leaches around him. When he goes, will there be anyone around to lift up a statue of him for the memories?

Country on fire and where is it's leader for the past four weekends - Bolivia, UK, Antigua and now Brussels. How could that be expedient at a time like this one may ask? Answer: Only if your PS could multitask and act as the Minster of Finance in the PM's absence. who pays kda's us$300/day per diem? hotel, travel, etc? AT A TIME LIKE THIS? KENNY NEEDS TO GO NOW

A trip was made to CARICOM, so that it could have been said that some coco macaque group was looking at the parlous state of Saint Lucia's finances. That did not happen.

What a failure! What an abject failure.

Empty-handed, the economy is now on automatic pilot.

What we are seeing is a very callous approach to managing a financial disaster. What an abdication of responsibility!

If the situation were not so serious, it would be really funny. Imagine that. Facing a crisis, the manager takes off, time and again, running!

Anyone who thinks that smart and responsible people will give a vote to them, so that they can give that one the party's vote again, to become prime minister and minister of finance, that person is out of his or her colonial banana pruning mind. NEVER AGAIN!

Outliving all usefulness this one MUST be put to pasture.

Our great imposters are finally being unmasked. Down with the shysters!

A fitting or fighting song for this thread:

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'VE GOT THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE AND
THERE AIN'T NO WAY WE'LL LOSE IT
THIS IS OUR LIFE, THIS IS OUR SONG
WE'LL FIGHT THE POWERS THAT BE JUST
DON'T PICK OUR DESTINY 'CAUSE
YOU DON'T KNOW US, YOU DON'T BELONG

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

OH YOU'RE SO CONDESCENDING
YOUR GALL IS NEVER ENDING
WE DON'T WANT NOTHIN', NOT A THING FROM YOU
YOUR LIFE IS TRITE AND JADED
BORING AND CONFISCATED
IF THAT'S YOUR BEST, YOUR BEST WON'T DO

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE
NO WAY!

OH......
OH......
WE'RE RIGHT/YEAH
WE'RE FREE/YEAH
WE'LL FIGHT/YEAH
YOU'LL SEE/YEAH

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT, NO!
NO, WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT
WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE

Would he survive one week in a private company? only in St.Lucia.
Yes, only in a government job in St.Lucia that can happen.
The only way to force this guy out is for the civil service to shut the country down. I am not saying to force a general election now, but Kenny PERSONALLY must be forced to quit and let another Rep who understands finances take over the helm for now.
(His pride will not allow him to do that,no matter how good it is for the country)

I have been living here for 11 years and have seen an enormous decline since 2009. No way that St. Lucia will
recover within 5-6 years. We are leaving and many more foreigners.
