Alright
I got somethin' to say
Yeah, it's better to tune up
Yeah, then hit the pans
All right, ow
Gonna start a revelry
Come on

Rise up! Gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Pan it up let's go crayzee
Dance the night into a frenzee

Rock on!
(Rock on!)
Drive me crazier, no serenade
No fire brigade, just Pyromania, come on

(What do you want?)
What do you want?
(I want calypso)
Yes I do
(Long live Carnival)

Oh let's go, let's strike a pan
We're gonna flow the beer cans
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight,
come on

(What do you want?)
What do you want?
(I want Soca)
Alright
(Long live Carnival)
Oh yeah yeah

Rhythm of ages, rhythm of ages
Still wining, keep a-wining'
Calypso of ages, soca of ages
Still stomping', still prancing

We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say, "Yeah!"
Ooh yeah

Now listen to me
I'm burnin', burnin', I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road

(What do you want?)

What do you want?
(I want CARNIVAL!)
You betcha
(Long live CARNIVAL!)
I'm here

Steel pan of ages, Steel pan of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Calypso of ages, soca of ages
Still prancing', still wining

We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say, "Yeah!"
Say, "Yeah!"

We're gonna jump up & down,
woo hoo
upon de savannah

No country worth its salt would promote whether with public or private funds; what passes for carnaval. Women with hardly any clothes on; gyrating with nothing left to the imagination in the act of sex on a bed; climbing on the backsides of men and gyrating on them like how the male dogs have sex with female dogs on the street; and you call that culture.

You call that "curses" being placed on the heads of saint lucians and st. lucian.

This is not acceptable in the eyes of GOD as stated clearly in the Bible. Whether some scoundrels want to believe it or not.

This is one of the reasons why this country is suffering; and more will come if you folks in st. lucia don't live a decent life.

What I see on the television which the women do during carnival; is really shameful.

Now on the internet they showing saint lucian couples having sex. A sad way to promote the country.

I feel your moral / religious concerns with much respect. However, dualism has been at the forefront of both philosophic and religious theories. Please consider the following in defense of Val as a cultural economic entity:

The current pan calypso versions derive from folks of African heritage fusing some of the Euro traditions - sort of like rock and roll is a fusion of Blues /Country blue grass and modern elements.

The Tropical African region can wear clothes of full body coverage or as scantily dressed as to go topless for budding to prime females. Here in St Lucia women use to breast feed in public and males did not go ‘gaga” or drool at the sight (not so today).

Dancing for every type of celebration is etched on the chromosomes of people of African heritage. Many can block it mentally.

Disposable income for most in the industrialized nations is earmarked for FUN
If RIO was located in the desirable proximity to Canada-USA _Europe as the Caribbean is. WE would not receive one penny from any of the FUN benefits inspired by Samba/Carnival- See what they did for the String bikin swimwear & its offshoot the thong for underwear(They sell like hot cakes)

We have no oil-bauxite-gold not even a viable banana export: Val is like the annual flooding of the biblical Nile that lft bumper crop harvests in it’s wake. Th e arid Egyptian plains adapted very well to receive the blessed floods. Likewise Val brings economic relief for low ,middle and high level vendors or speculators of every stripe across St.Lucia

IGNORE the extreme bad publicity and think about the dollars if we could get some more of that RIO SAMBA traffic from Europe and North America-

Here’s an investment tip (no pun intended) invest in Trojan’s (Frenchees)

Think of the ARTS inspiration angle

An expert VAL costume designer may find work on Broadway or Hollywood

An expert calypso writer , pan arranger can rise to work at a music publishing conglomerate like Virgin Records , EMI etc
or soundtracks or broadway or hollywood scores

Catch the drift: This island has produced on a global scale

The task is to maintain / upgrade our capacity to prepare those who have potential to perform/produce on the global stage literally and figuratively

Check out the success rate of Filipinos-globally.

Again I understand that too many get mired in the product like a Pharmacist who gets addicted on the sedatives in stock
